Coaching Website
Website Redesign for Christen McCormack
Christen is an experienced intuitive and meditation coach with a large pre-existing client base. Her website includes descriptions of her offerings, free content, plus a scheduling page for clients.
OVERVIEW
Christen had been a client of mine for a long time. Her existing website was designed 10 years prior. As her needs evolved, new features had been shoehorned in, making the website feel clunky and hard to use.
GOAL
Using the previous branding as a baseline for the new design, Christen requested a refreshed website that would be structured to align with her current offerings.
BEFORE
Items had been added gradually, visually altering the flow of the page and creating some confusion for the user on how to navigate or find what they were looking for.
AFTER
A layout with different sections allows the user to quickly scroll through the homepage. Content is more organized and important navigation elements are highlighted.
DESIGN PROCESS
1.
EXPLORATION & INSPIRATION:
After consulting with Christen, I looked at competitors' websites and generated ideas. I then worked on prioritizing the features that would be included based on her needs.
QUESTIONS:
-
What are other coaches offering on their website?
-
How is information organized?
-
What are some visual trends that are showing up on those sites?
2.
CONTENT NEEDS & ARCHITECTURE:
Based on the information gathered in step 1, I started thinking about the site as a cohesive whole. I gathered possible photos to be used and worked with Christen to create the text. I mapped out the journey that her clients would take on the site and developed the site architecture.
3.
CONCEPTS & WIREFRAMES:
Once I had a general direction and architecture to work with, I built wireframes and low-fidelity design mockups, using the site architecture and user journeys to inform my decisions. I made revisions as needed based on Christen's feedback.
4.
HIGH FIDELITY VISUAL DESIGN:
Before working on the final designs, I established a style library, including brand colors, images and font choices. Many of the colors were based on the previous design, but with an updated palette.
Once the visual focus and direction had been established, I finalized the design for each page and built the website within the Wix platform.
